So today I wanted write a post all about my first week of beauty college. There is a couple of reasons why I wanted to write this; to help anyone else thinking about going to beauty college and so I can look back and remember my amazing first week.
So last Monday, I got all suited and booted in my uniform, hair and makeup done and ready for my first day. My college has different classes including some part-time and evening courses so for this Monday, absolutely everybody attending any course went for an induction. At first it was rather scary- there were so many people and so much to take in. After a brief talk about the college we split off into our classes and all us full-time girls met for the first time. The day was as exciting as health and safety can be, but it was fun to find out about all the girls on my course and to start to get a feel of what we were going to be doing. I wont forget to mention the 500 word essay we had for homework the first day!
Anyway, Tuesday came and we were straight into facials. We had a theory lesson in the morning and then practical all afternoon. It was great fun, but also quiet weird touching some else’s face for the first time- you don’t even think about it now. We learnt about different skin types and products and what suits who.
For the rest of the week we were learning the full facial including; cleansing, toning, skin analysis, exfoliating, masks (and making masks from scratch), face neck and shoulder massage and moisturising. So quite intense, but we hae more to learn about facials which we are starting next Monday.
We have theory lessons everyday which honestly I find very interesting but if you’re not into biology at all or interested in why we do things, you may want to have a think about it as it is a fundamental part of all treatments.
Overall I am absolutely loving my college, my course and all my new friends and cant wait to go in every day. I know I definitely made the right choice.
If you are thinking about starting a beauty therapy course, I would look into all the different types of courses – there are more than just NVQ’s (not that there is anything wrong with them) it just depends on where you want to go with your career.
Thank you so much for reading my post, I hope it was either helpful or was an enjoyable read. Let me know what you think down below or any questions you may have.
